3d touch repeatedly until offer is accepted

Benjamin Richter · 1 · Last reply by João Dias

I receive job offers in an app, I need to repeatedly select two parts of the screen, the lower part of the screen first, the top part of the screen second and the lower part of the screen again. I need the 3d touch to occur repeatedly because offers may come 5 to 10 minutes apart. Is this possible without rooting my device?

Apps to work without data - on USSD

Akshay · 1 · Last reply by João Dias

In Oreo, apps are allowed to read & initiate USSD dialogue. Using which telcos , VAS providers can offer search & other low data applications (non-media types) on USSD channel , instead of data channel. Useful for location cards or all situations when data is switched off or when data connectivity is unavailable.

    Ability to query image resolution

Justin Motroni · 2 · Last reply by Justin Motroni

Something that would fit in the AutoTools > Image category that would be quite useful would be the ability to query a specified image's resolution, to return the WxH values.

Doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this so far, and it would be great for my wallpaper setting task, to ensure that the random image Tasker selects won't look pixelly when applied stretched as the wallpaper.

Ability to switch Bluetooth Tethering on and off

I'd like to be able to use AutoTools to turn on my phones Bluetooth Tethering. It always turns of after restarting the phone, or turning bluetooth itself of and on again. There are apps for this on the Play Store but I would really like to be able to do it with Tasker :)

Read USSD messages in Android Oreo

Prasant · 2 · Last reply by João Dias

Android Oreo allows apps to send and read USSD messages. It would be great if AutoTools could support this as reading data usages from the carrier is much more accurate than what the system does. More information about this here: https://www.xda-developers.com/android-oreo-ussd-codes-carriers/

    Secure Settings System with Root

Jonatan Steuernagel · 2 · Last reply by João Dias

I'm using a OnePlus 3T and I was never able to edit any of the System Settings.

After some searching around I found out that this seems to be an Android restriction.

But I just recently rooted my devices and found that I could change System Settings with Tasker using:

    Run Shell

Command: settings put system buttons_brightness 0

    Use Root: YES

So my question is: Could you add a "Use Root" option into AutoTools Secure Settings as a workaround?

    Thanks :)!

    Control Accessibility via Secure Settings

Ian Grody · 1 · Last reply by João Dias

After tinkering with Android TV boxes, a lot of them were void of Accessibility menu in the UI, so such services could not be accessed. Via ADB, I was able to enable apps to use Accessibility by use of settings.

    'settings put secure accessibility_enabled 1'

AutoTools could check for the BIND_ACCESSIBILITY_SERVICE in apps, check it's exported service and enable it.

    settings put secure enabled_accessibility_services net.dinglisch.android.taskerm/MyAccessibilityService

This has worked on two TV boxes running Android MM.

    App shortcuts in Nova Launcher

Georg Trede · 1 · Last reply by João Dias

I'm not sure how far this is possible, but it would be a very cool thing: There's already the App Shortcut action for Android 7.1, maybe it is possible to transfer it to launchers as the Nova Launcher. Some apps provide that, I'm not sure, whether Nova did that or the apps themselves... But one could give it a try.

    Enable/disable Single app notifications

    dragone17 · 2 · Last reply by dragone17

I am talking about the option to enable/disable the notification on a per-app basis.

On my phone (LG G3 with a stock based rom) is in settings - apps - [app name] - notifications (may not be the correct terms as english is not my first language)

like my other suggestion, is something that the old secure settings does and I can't find anywhere else.

    Web session

Georg Trede · 1 · Last reply by João Dias

You start a web session and it stores all cookies and that stuff for you, that you don't have to filter it out, store it and send it again. This is pretty easy in python, so maybe as well for AutoTools?

    QR Code Dialog

Karl Wood · 1 · Last reply by João Dias

While messing with AutoBarcode, it occurred to me that being able to display a text string as a QR code in an Autotools dialog has two use cases

    1. Debug, like the Linux kernel has. Link
    2. NFC functionality for sending e.g a text message between two phones without RF communication.

It's here in case anyone is interested, for fun. No worries if anyone thinks it's pointless.

(Including ZXing is probably bloat in this context, using a web service for a dialog is weird. :)

Use Sensor.TYPE_LIGHT instead of finding the int value

Peter Thornton · 1 · Last reply by João Dias

    Hi

I am having difficulty finding the correct sensor int value for the light sensor. All the documentation online refers to Sensor.TYPE_LIGHT.

Is it possible to change the autotools event to use the string (Sensor.TYPE_LIGHT) instead of the int (not sure what it is yet, i cant find it)?

    Thank you

    Adjust adaptive brightness level

Jimmy Nejmeh · 2 · Last reply by Jimmy Nejmeh

I have a Google Pixel with Android v7.1.1. With AutoTools, I can read the adaptive brightness level (it's screen_brightness_auto_adj). It will range anywhere from 0.0 (slider all the way to the left) to 100.0 (slider all the way to the right). But if I try doing a custom setting to set it, I get the "Can't change setting on this device. You cannot change private secure settings." I've done the ADB command to grant AutoTools the WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission, but still can't get it to work. It would be great to have a way to set this in AutoTools.
